Hey!
It has been a while since I out anything up here, but I do have a valid reason for that. I have a job now. yes I have finally joined the ranks of the workign classes. I have gotten a job with 24/7 I am the project manager for business operations for Fed Ex UK. It is a challenging tasking, keeps me busy and out of trouble and out of the malls. The rains have started here in Bangalore and that a big relief from the heat :) Still have not managed to peg down a social circle ... but that is ok ... working and partying with the same people can be abit dull. On the other hand I have made friends with Savitha .. she is from the UK so finally I have someone that thinks like i do here. That is definitely a good thing. Here is a pic of me in the office. Lovely flowers.

Nothing else new here .. same ole same ole .. just different day. Gotaa run maid is here :( need to see what she is up to

well it has been awhile since i put anything up here. Nothing really to say i guess ... was suppose to go to the US but that turned out to be a bust :-( ... crap happens .. life goes on ... well just hanging around the place ... planning on going home in Dec after a short trip to Mauritius. I think the time home will do me good. Mum's planning on moving to JO'burg so that should be something interesting to go home to.

Other than that everything and everyone is the same. I am not sure if that is a good thing or not ... oh well .. what the heck.

OK .. where do I begin now .. i am at a new phase in my life ... german is over .. i did not pass the last phase of the ZD exam ... i just froze up and started talking on Afrikaans ... can you believe that ... crazy weird and stupid .. anyway I have run my course in german now anyway. I had decided not to continue anyway. So the question now is, what do i do next. I guess now i can dedicate myself 100% to finding a job. Lawrence is trying to out something together for me in the US regarding project management .. but we will see how that goes ... getting a visa for the US is thr tricky part ... but i will strive to remain psoitive and hope for the best.

I think i will use this time to improve my german though anyway ... the need to work on the accent ... i do not plan on forgetting my german ... it came at too higher a price .. i am not going to just let it all fade away ... no i am going to improve it ... the trick is to read ... i need to develop the habit of reading german books. I need to first find a way to get access to them.

anyway i am not feeling as bad about not getting the ZD as i was .. which i guess is an improvement ... but i have learnt the all important lesson that when u start something u give it 100% right from the get go, coz it never gets any easier. maybe this was not as bad a week as i thought it was anyway.

I seem to be running out of things to put on here ... Sad really .. I never really though that there would come a time in my life when I would be at a lost for words. But I have not been feeling myself of late ... No idea why .. I just seem to be overwhelmed with this all consuming sense of sadness. And I do not have the foggiest idea what to do about it. Sometime I find myself wishing that life was like a tape recorder .. Where I would be able to rewind the good times and fast forward the bad ones ... We are all like that to some extent i guess ... at least I console myself with that thought.

I need to find direction and passion in my life again ... Somehow, somewhere along the line I lost it ... And I do not have the slightest idea how to get it back. Most of the time I find myself hovering over this pit of emptiness. If you think this sounds depressing and pathetic ... U should try what it feels like. It is a pity that we cannot go shopping for a life ... That would make things so much easier .. then we could the return the lives we did not want for ones we did ,,, and wait ..We could change them once we get bored .. YIpee!!!!!!!!!! ... But reality is a different ball game altogether.

I will be ok I know that ... I just wish that I could fast forward this phase I am going thru and get the part where I am feeling good.

Hi All

Ok it has been a long time since I put down some of my rumblings .. so here goes ...

Ok Lawrence has come and left. It was great having him here. We had a great time. He got sick ..lol so that kinda put a hamper on things. But all in all it was a ball. We went shopping, hiking, traveling, just exploring Karnataka together. It was sad to see him go; but such is life ... hopfully i will be in the US soon so and we can see each other again.

What else .. the bombings in London had me in a knot. But everyone there is safe. I am so relieved. It was pretty close for Amit ... one of the explosions was on the line he takes and at the same time he is generally on his way to work .. thankfully that day he had to be in the office an hour early .. so that was a close one for him. On the up side .. I got to speak to Bhavesh again .. it was so great hearing his voice again. Brought back so many memories. Rajin's dad pasted away on Saturday ... he was a good man .. he will be missed i am sured.

Here in Bangalore, things are just about the same. Sanjiv might be off to the US in a few days for 4 weeks. I have started learning Java ... he he he ;-) can you picture me as a software geek .. NOT :-) ... German is boring nothing much as changed. Ok i am going to post a few pics on here of our travels to Mysore and Hampi. Enjoy!

it has been awhile since I had something of substance to say on here ... a few things have happened since my last post. We bought a new car ... still looking for a driver though ... driving here in bangalore is not something pleasant but it is something i think i should look into.

M1 german class has started. We have a german national as our teacher. She is no better than the indian guy we have ... boring and not very good teachers ... oh well that is what happens when u have high expectations .. u tend to get disappointed.

We picked up the car today. Srinivas drove, when to the temple got the prayer done. Now it is parked at Sanjiv mother's house abd will be until we get a driver. I do not see my life changing much with a car .. i was already told to try to be compromising.

Lawrence will be here in a few days .. i must admit i am looking forward to seeing him i can barely wait. It would be nice to spend sometime with someone that has the same kind of mindset that i have and sense of humour as well. He will be visiting with us for 2 weeks. it is going to be great. We are going to hang out, shop, just do alot of stuff together. it will be a blast. We have a trip planned to Hampi ...and Mysore and will take in some local sites here in bangalore ... i will put up some pics here if i can as soon as we get back.

Another week has past. Nothing much going on here. I registered for the next level of German, only I am not so sure the class will exist. They are having problems with numbers; that would mean I will have to wait until next semester to continue .. bummer :-(

The monsoons are under way here so the temperatures are great this time of year. Debating over going home this Dec or going to Kashmir. That is one place I want to go to before I leave India. Well will see what happens ultimately. If German is not going to happen I am going to do my MCSD .. that should take me 6 months. And it should make me very marketable in the IT industry ... or at best a lot more than I am right now. I need to get a job. I am ready to be independent again.

My friend from the US will be visiting me in a few weeks. It will be exciting to hang out with someone that does not have an Indian accent .. lol ... not that that is a bad thing .. but too much of anything is not good .. lol .. anyway so i am going to spend the next few days planning a few trips for us ... hopefully we will all get to see Karnataka. I have not seen very much since I got here. All said and done it is something to look forward to.

Oh yeah! Alomost forgot, Bangalore now has decent cinemas ... I went to see Mr and Mrs Smith with Rahul and the gang(don't bother seeing it if you haev not .. unless you are a Pitt or Joley fan) ... cinemas where impressive .. i approve ... just a tad bit expensive .. but that does not keep the crowds away ... people here are not as poor as the rest of the world believes ... they have the money and are ready and willing to spend it. Indians are starting to come out of their homes and explore life a little and I think that is a great thing.

A day of Memories and Thankfulness

Today is father's day. A day that was just there until you do not have a father anymore. Then it becomes a day of memories and longing. It will be 2 years this July for my dad's death, I can not believe that he is gone and that so much of time has pasted by. I guess time heals all, I actually do get thru a day or 2 sometimes not thinking about him ... does that make me a bad daughter? But it still feels empty, I can still remember him as if it were yesterday that i saw him last. That is good i guess, for as long as i got those memories i will always have him. I would not have changed my father in anyway; I wonder how many people can actually say that?. He was a great man in more ways than i think even we realized. But days like today still send me into a semi depressed state. But that is ok .. he is so worth it.

Well i am a few days into my vacation. I have done nothing but vegitate which is good ..well for a few days anyway .. time to now get back on the road and get things in gear. I had a great talk with a truely great wonderful friend of mine last night or should I say this morning and he helped me see something that i kinda lost sight of something i knew all along, if anything is going to happen in my life, it is going to be coz i made it happen. i cannot sit back and wait and wish that things will change and get better. I do not know how i became this person that i am now, what changed along the way and why. I want my old self back, I want my zest for life back, my feeling of independence and self worth and self esteem. And the great news is that it is mine for the taking, i just have to want it badly enough. Lawrence helped me see this again .. and i can not thank him enough for it. He is an amazing and truely wonderful human being and i am so blessed to call him a friend. You know they say that you can go thru a life time and never have 1 single true friend. I am so glad that i can say that I have a true friend, no matter what, I know i have found a friend that has my best interests at heart and that I mean as much to him as he does to me. For that god i am eternally thankful.

ok enough emotional mumbo jumbo for today

Hi

It is official, G3 is over. Since my last post, I have completed my german exams ... and did very well thank you very much. Now I have 2 weeks of blissful rest before i sign up for M1. Other than that nothing new or manage has happened. I have no really plans for the next 2 weeks but just relaxing and hanging out with my friends.

OK today I am going to introduce you to Anu. (Who is in that pic of my German class ... she is kneeling on the ground RHS of Frau Ivy) Anu was born in Germany but has spent most of her life here in India. Her parents are still in Germany ... her sister is completely german hence Anu's need to learn german, to be able to communicate with her sister. Anyway Anu and I have been together since G1 and she is not going to do M1 ... it was kinda sad today to tell her goodbye. As well intentioned as we are about keeping in touch, it never happens. Isn't that the case in most instances in life with most people we meet. Anyway I am looking forward to maybe travelling to Germany with her around November of this year(if we r still in touch). but we will see.

Plans to go to SA are still in limbo .. too many things that need to be taken care off before we can commit ourselves to anything. Honestly I am not so sure how I would feel about going back to Verulam. The last time i went home was for my father's funeral. I still want to hold on to the memories of me going home and him behing there. So i may very well not to go Durban. we will see. Crazy I know but we you never know .

I have some time so i decided to put some of my rumblings down and test you guys endurance levels even further ..lol . Nothing much going on here since the last time I made an entry. Last Sunday we had a class get together. About 16 of us went to a movie and then lunch and for those who where able to hang out for a longer time; ice cream. OK i finally did it, i watched a hindi movie in the cinema here ... I can not say that i recommend it, but then the film we watch was crap ... Bunty and Bubbly ... I guess you can not expect much with a name like that. It is the hindi version of Bonnie and Clyde. Even the music failed to impress. 2 thumbs down definitely.

The exams are just a few days away. I am getting nervous, which is normal. I am looking into doing a course on digital web paging. The plan is that i can intergrate my german with web paging ... that should open a few doors for me in terms of employment opportunities here or anywhere for that matter. But i am going to take a small break first after G3 and then look into what next. Our plans to move from here are still out there in limbo :-( ... but I am confident that something positive will come up soon. But for now i will use my time here to enjoy india and it's pleasures.

G2 - German Class

Here is a picture of my German class ... of course this is G2 class, I am currently doing G3 ... so there are a few changes to the class. But the teacher is the same and the people I hang out with are the same ... hence my posting it. BTW teacher is the one sitting on the chair. Frau Ivy Thomas.

Today we got the date for our finals ... June 13th... yuck. Classes have now extended to Saturdays as well, so we can make up time and actually get some time for a small holiday before the next semester comes a knocking. Oh btw in case I have not mentioned it I am studying German at the Goethe Institut... which is an extension of the german embassy. There are so many people here in Bangalore that can speak German, French, even Japanese a little surprising to be honest.

I am currently debating if I should carry on with German or not. I am thinking of taking up something else... maybe acquire some skills in some computer language or something. Skills that will make me more marketable. Well I have a few weeks to decide so we will see how things go. I am also thinking that I need to start seriously looking for a job. That then brings up the question of, 'Do I want to stay here much longer?' Off course that depends on a lot of factors... sanjiv's job being the primary one. In his line of work it just makes sense for him to be either in California or Bangalore. He is torn between his need to be here and my need to not be here ... hey I never said I was an easy person to live with :-) ,, but I am so worth it. And that is my humble yet accurate opinion. he he he .

The pre-monsoon rains have started here ... great relief from the heat. But the roads ... YUCKY...
so I am limiting my rendezvous around the city. These days my activities are limited to class and running errand and then studying. I try to be home before the rains start ... it generally rains in the evenings. Monsoons start proper around the end of June. I am thinking about escaping it altogether and going to South Africa but we will see ... that can only happen if I decide not to carry on with German.

Hmmm Ok! This is my first post (thanx to Lawrence who introduced me to this mode of rambling .. primarily coz I had exhausted every other mode .. lol ) and i am not sure what i am suppose to say in it. I guess the daily/routine ramblings that exist within the confines of my mind ... yes i do still have a mind ...much to the dismay of a few :-) (my efforts at insanity were furtile) ... oh well i tried.

Well a year in India Whopeeee!!!!! and to those who did not think i could make it ... "I showed You" I would have been more figurative but my skills at diplomacy have not totally left me. It has been a roller coaster year for me. So many things have happened and so many things have not. Some, good and others not so good .... those are the ingredients for a healthy life ... or so i am told. I actually am a bit suprised myself that I am still here and am in no hurry to leave. India is not a bad place and if you have the money, life can be very nice indeed. Off course you have to put up with a few minor setbacks ...like clean roads, clean air, a whole new definition to traffic (to all of you who moan about traffic on the roads that you drive on ... you got to experience Indian traffic), cows on the street and the early morning aroma of cow 'poop'..(ok not every morning) and off course the infamous Auto Rickshaw drivers. That is a totally new experience right there. Lets just say that India is a comedy of errors.

I am learning german here ... trust me to go to India to learn german ... maybe i will put a few posts up here in german ... which i guess will kinda defeat the purpose of having other people (YOU) know what is going on with me. Managed to find a few people to hang out with ... interesting bunch, just found out yesterday that Rahul is gay. Actually he just came out... what a waste of a fine looking man :-( ... good for him i guess... although actually knowing a gay guy in India is kinda weird, for those who know India the reason for my making that statement is farely obvious. And those that do not ... no biggie. I will introduce you all to the people I hang out here as I go along with this. Most of them stem from german class .... suprise suprise!
